Consumer test reports of Dryer for clothing show that the more water the Washer-Extractor extracts during a spin cycle, the less work your tumble dryer has to do to get the clothes dry.
The selection of a good combination of washing and drying machine is important. You have to check whether the tumble dryer is making a noise when in operation.
Although not all dryers look
the same, all of them operate in the same manner through a combination
of three main factors: Airflow, Heat and Drum Rotation.
We will address how these three factors work together as well as potential problems you may encounter when operating the drying machine.
What is a Tumble Dryer or a Dryer Machine?
It is still a question in the minds of consumers: what is a tumble dryer? The main function of the dryer machine is to evaporate the moisture contained in the linen. The air is heated and circulated inside the drum, the better this function, definitely better the dryer. Tumbler dryers are gas heated, steam-heated, or electrically heated. Since the drum containing the clothes tumbles to dry the clothes it is known as a tumble dryer.
There are two main types of dryers:
There is a vented dryer, where the warm, moist air is vented directly outside through a vent in the wall or through an open window, and a condenser dryer where the water from the clothes is collected or drained away at the bottom of the machine.
Working Principles of Clothes Dryer Machine:
Either way, you are
going to have a Centralized Drum, where you put the wet garments, and that drum
is spun around by a V-belt, which is attached to a motor, either directly or on
a tension pulley.
The belt on these dryers is one of the most commonly replaced spare parts. The motor is also driving the fan which is pushing hot air up the oven the heating element, it looks very much like a toaster, it’s just heating the air up.
There is a
thermostat to regulate the temperature. So the hot air is then blown into the
drum, the air is blown either axially or radially depending on the design of
the drying machine. Moisture is taken out of the tumbling garments. If you have
a vented dryer, that warm, moist air will just be vented away through the
hose.
But in a condenser tumble dryer, it is fed down and into the heat exchanger. A heat-exchanger is essentially an arrangement called a radiator, where warm, moist air is cooled down and the moisture is condensed out. You can hopefully find a secondary fan that draws cool, ambient air across the heat exchanger and helps to condense-out that water. The water flows into the base of the machine and the warm dry air is circulated back up to the heating element and into the drum.

Now the final part is
getting rid of that condensed water, on some drying machines, it will just drip
down into a reservoir that sits beneath the heat exchanger. There is a pump,
where the water is pumped up to this reservoir here, where it is a little bit
more convenient to empty it. You may also have the choice of draining the water
externally just by attaching a hose to it. You can expect an average load
of clothes to take about 45 minutes to dry.
Tumble dryer cycles have a cooling down period at the end of each cycle. This makes linen easier to handle by the laundry attendant and reduces the potential for burns. Dryers operate between 170 – 200C. Tumbler Dryers are usually a free-standing module bolted to the ground. The inner drum is constructed in stainless steel and has perforations, that is holes are punched at the circumference, through which the air circulates.
DRUM FITTING:
Drums are supported by
gliders or rollers in the front and rollers or bearing in the rear depending on
the model. All this time the drum supports will wear out and the dryer may become
noisy during use if the drum is overloaded or if a support roller glide bearing
or pulley fails the belt may begin to slip it can also fray and eventually,
break when the belt breaks you may hear the motor running but the drum will not
rotate in some models a broken belt will activate a switch that prevents the
motor from running Air Flow, Heat and Drum rotation are all
necessary for efficient dryer operation and as you can see all three are
interrelated.
Location of the Dryer:
As air is heated by the heating element and proper airflow is vital for its smooth operation. To ensure your dryer has sufficient air to operate, it should be located in an open, well-ventilated area and not in a cramped closed area. Especially in the laundry room, for the proper airflow rear of the appliance should be kept several inches away from the wall,
If the airflow
is poor the heat from the element will not be pulled through the heater housing
properly, this can cause the high-limit thermostat to heat up and switch off the
voltage to the heating element, the thermostat will reset after it cools and
the process will repeat, However the dryer will take too long to dry because the
heat is continually being shut off and the thermostat itself can damage.
Some of the models may have a thermal fuse on the blower housing and a thermal cut-off fuse on the heater housing, either of these fuses can fail due to poor airflow, If this happens the dryer will not heat or it may not run at all until the fuse has been replaced. If functioning properly, the heated air is pulled evenly through the tumbling clothes and then through a lint screen to maintain proper airflow. It is very important to clean the lint screen after every load.
Vented Material: (For Vented Dryer)
There are two types of venting material that can be used, each has a different length limit, the best type to use is rigid venting which is usually efficient up to 40 feet in length.
However, be aware that any bending in the venting impedes airflow and reduces the length limit for efficient operation,
For example, each 90 degree Bend subtracts 8 feet from that 40 foot limit the other type of venting you can use is semi-rigid, this type of material is usually efficient up to 20 feet in length, again any bend will impede airflow a 90-degree bend will subtract 8 feet from the allowable 20-foot total use only rigid or semi-rigid venting any other material may increase the risk of fire as the lint in the vent could ignite during normal operation.
Since an exhaust vent clogged with lint is the most common cause of restricted airflow, we recommend cleaning out the vent regularly.
Heating Inside The Drying Machine
As we mentioned earlier, the air inside the dryer is heated by the heating element. Heat in blower housing is monitored by thermostats during normal operations. The air temperature is usually between 120 and 160 degrees Fahrenheit. When the air reaches the proper temperature for your dryer, the thermostat will switch off the voltage to the heating element.
The high limit thermostat and thermal cut off
fuse also monitor the temperature of the element.
Eventually, if the airflow problem is not corrected, the thermal cut off or the
fuse on the heater housing may fail and the dryer will not heat. These components can and should be
tested individually to determine if one of them has stopped functioning.

wetness to control the drying
time.
9. All the drying machine operations are controlled by a microprocessor.
10. Child lock, the door lock is one of the basic functions associated
with the drying machine.
Consideration for the selection of Tumble Dryer:
Electric dryer,
electric models are less expensive but they cost slightly more to operate, on
the other hand gas dryers are priced at about more than compared to electric
dryers but cost less to operate over time if you can run a gas dryer.
The ratio of the depth and the diameter is very important while selecting the tumble dryer, the more the depth of the drum, the more clothes are exposed to the hot air and the clothes are dried with greater efficiency.
Problems and precautions taken while operating the Commercial Tumble Dryer:
a) Check whether the exact program from the program list is selected which is displayed on the monitor, as per the fabric of clothes loaded inside the tumble dryer. Because if the exact program is not selected then the clothes may come out damp or get more heated than required.
b) Overloading the dryer can cause a reduction in the circulation of dry air as less space is available. Heating will take place only on one side of the drum, which ultimately increases the drying time and wearing of the linen as it is exposed to the excess heat.
c) Set the temperature exactly in the program while feeding, such as setting the exact time for the particular fabric. Mishandling or manipulation by operators may cause damage to the garments.
d) Overheating of the dryer may damage the linen as well as the dryer, many dryers have automatic cut off switch along with the sprinkler, where water is sprinkled on the linen and spontaneous combustion is avoided.
e) Operation of the machine without covers and guards correctly in place should be avoided.
f) Do not disconnect the power supply
until the complete cooling
cycle
has been completed.
g) Never dry linens that are stained with oil, rubber, or any inflammable material. Use the dryer only for the fabrics to be washed properly in water.
h) In gas heated dryers always shut off
the manual gas stop cock. Stop
gas heating before stopping the
machine.
